Three Lions Team Selection Announced: Bellingham and Foden Omitted, Saka Returns

The England manager has opted to stick with the same England squad that triumphed against their previous opponents and produced a stellar display in Belgrade during the previous international break, leaving no room for the Real Madrid star and the Manchester City attacker in his group for the upcoming friendly against Wales and the qualifying match in the Baltic nation.

Despite Phil Foden making a strong case for a return to the squad after regaining his top condition at his club, and Jude Bellingham having returned for Real Madrid following a surgical procedure, the national team manager has decided against including two of the nation's most prominent offensive stars. Bellingham has started just a single time for his club since his comeback.

Tuchel has found space for the Arsenal winger, who is fully recovered and has been reinstated in place of his unavailable club colleague Noni Madueke. Jack Grealish has not received a return to the squad.

Tuchel highlighted the energy in the previous selection and seems intent on keeping the same atmosphere. The Newcastle defender, who started at left-back in the 5-0 win in Serbia, has been ruled out due to a knee injury. The manager has opted against selecting a direct replacement for the Newcastle player but has selected the Manchester City defender, who had to pull out last month. He has spoken about the Manchester City defender's importance for the national team and has floated the idea of using him in midfield.

There is no place for Adam Wharton, who was called up in the previous squad but withdrew injured and was substituted by Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

Tuchel said: “It was only three weeks after the last camp and the most recent victory, the last performance, so the question was why not bring the same group in because they set the standard. Now it is about creating habits out of it. We have regrettably two injuries at the moment with Tino and Madueke and we welcome of course the Arsenal forward in to take the place of Noni. Jarell Quansah was a late call-up previously; he will stay in camp.”
